It all started when I stumbled upon a YouTuber who had grown his following by over 100,000 followers in just 30 days using a sniper strategy. This strategy involved finding reels that had recently gone viral in his niche and creating his own versions of those reels. The idea was to tap into proven topics, giving his reels a higher chance of going viral. Inspired by his success, I decided to try it myself.
My goal was to use this strategy to attract attention to my digital products and ultimately drive that traffic towards my email list, which I could then monetize. The benefits of having an email list are enormous – you can market to your audience multiple times without the risk of losing your account.
I wasn't only looking to monetize with digital products but also with affiliate sponsorships, newsletter referrals, and email ads. Here's how my strategy unfolded:
1. Creating Reels and Growing the Audience: I focused on creating reels based on proven topics, which led to rapid growth. My main account grew to over 120,000 followers, with some reels getting millions of views.
2. Building an Email List: I created a lead magnet (a free product in exchange for emails) to grow my email list and then marketed a minimum viable paid product to that list.
3. Automating the Process: Once the system was set up, I kept making reels and posting stories on Instagram, with everything on the backend automated.
Here are some key lessons I learned along the way:
- Targeting Matters: It's not just about going viral; it's about going viral with content related to what you're selling. Targeted content leads to better sales.
- Monetization Strategies: Early on, implement easy ways to monetize, like newsletter referrals, affiliate marketing, coaching, and minimum viable products.
- Lead Magnets: A compelling lead magnet is crucial. If people don't trust your free offer, they won't buy your paid products.
- Email Lists Over Followers: While followers are valuable, your email list is even more so. Everyone on your list will receive your emails, making it a more reliable marketing channel.
- Upselling: Having an upsell product ready immediately after the initial purchase can significantly boost your income.
If you're considering a similar strategy, remember that consistency and targeting are key. Viral content is great, but it needs to align with your monetization goals. And don't underestimate the power of a well-maintained email list.
