Here's how to grow and monetize a theme page

Theme pages can be very valuable assets that can be sold for a high multiple, but you have to go about it in the right way.

Instagram theme pages are pages that consistently post content centered around a particular niche.

They curate content or post content of their own. Common niches are travel, fashion, calisthenics, or motivational quotes.

Theme pages monetize by doing shoutouts for other accounts, sponsored posts, selling their own digital products and with affiliate links.

When a theme page has a good monetization and content creation strategy it can earn more than $10k monthly and be worth over $100k.

Theme pages also have a major advantage over personal brands because they can be fully outsourced and sold.

This is not always possible with personal brands because the content is specifically tied to you. But, theme pages are easier to copy, so you can end up with more competition.

When selecting a theme page, it is important to consider whether or not you think you will be able to actually get many views.

Ideally, you don’t want to enter a niche where there are no other pages already because it might be hard to get views there.

Instead, it would be better to choose a niche where there are some pages that are getting good views. Those pages will have proven that it is possible for you to enter the niche and get views.

Also, those pages will help you to create a content strategy. You should look at their content that is performing well and plan to create your own content that is similar.

Also, it is important to look to see how well the other pages in the niche are monetizing. You want to see that there are other pages that have a good monetization strategy that you can replicate.

Also, when growing theme pages, I generally do not recommend the strategy of simply reposting viral content in the niche.

Instead, it is better and less risky to follow the strategy of coming up with your own viral content, as I explain in the Digital Creator 2.0.

Basically, you want to look for winning hooks in the niche then recreate them with your own footage.

With all of that being said, focusing solely on creating a theme page on Instagram is the wrong approach. You could be banned at any time on Instagram. You don’t want to tie your business to just one platform because you can lose it over night.

Instead, it is a much better strategy to take the approach of growing the business across social media (insta, tiktok, youtube, twitter, linkedin)

To further protect yourself, you should have the specific goal of growing an email list. An email list is something that won’t be taken away from you. So, you get to avoid having to worry about losing your business over night.

Ok, so instead of trying to come up with a niche that does well on Instagram. You want to come up with a niche that you are seeing do well across social media.

An example of this is AI accounts that create content about AI tools. You consistently see these accounts do well across social media. Not just Instagram.

Ok, so, here is what I would actually do:

I would choose a niche like the AI niche or the masculinity niche that consistently does well across social media. I would also make sure that there is a clear monetization strategy for the niche.

I would then create a content plan for multiple social media platforms. I would do this by looking at what content is currently working for the niche across the platforms and then plan to make my own content that is similar.

Next, I would start creating content and growing the followings and views.

Then, as the views start coming in, I would create a lead magnet and send people to it so that I can collect their emails. This will allow me to grow the email list which is an important asset in the long term.

Next, I would start implementing the monetization. Usually, the best way to monetize is with a digital product such as a course. So, I would start making a course and then launch it to the email list and on the social platforms.

After that, It would be a case of continuing to create content and sending people to the lead magnet so that they get onto the email list.

At the same time, I would be looking for additional ways to monetize. I would do this by reaching out to potential sponsors, looking for affiliate programs and considering new products that I would make.

Finally, I would work on creating content creation systems and then outsourcing the content creation so that I can remove myself from the business.

Now, it would just be a case of continuing to oversee the growth of the business. Once you get to a point where the business has been growing and monetized for 12 months, you can start thinking about selling it on a website like Empire flippers.
