You can make more by working less, but only if you do this...
TLDR: The hours you work are a factor of your success but, it is not the only factor. The decisions you make are a critical factor and at a certain point, working more hours will not increase your income.
How much money you make depends largely on your skills and knowledge of how to provide value to the market place, leverage that you have (your audience, money to spend on ads, access to people,…), the decisions that you make and the execution on those decisions.
If you work long hours on bad decisions, you will stay poor.
On the other hand, there are people working 4 hour days that are making hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly.
In fact, at a certain level, it gets to the point where working more hours will result in you making less money because it results in you making worse decisions.
In addition to this not all hours worked have the same value.
Obviously, if you work 4 hours making content that brings new people into your audience, that likely has a lot of value.
Whereas, working 4 hours redesigning your website, will not have as much value because it is not something that is bringing you new people.
Your focus needs to be on discovering the most efficient way for you to convert your hours worked into more income.
When it comes to growing and monetizing an audience, most of your time should be spent on content creation and the rest of the time should be spent on creating paid products, finding sponsors, creating landing pages etc.
Once you have the landing pages setup to get people onto your email list, if you spend 4 hours just making content that gets people onto your email list, it is likely a good day.
Of course, just creating content is not a guarantee to success. It needs to be on point content with a good chance of getting a lot of views from your target audience.
Ultimately, getting more people to view your content and join your email list is the most important thing when it comes to a creator business.
As your income and your audience grows, the most important tasks will change. After a while, you will want to experiment with paid ads for audience growth and other paid ways to grow your audience since you will be able to leverage your income for audience growth instead of your time.
Overall, your focus should be on figuring out what your most important activities are when it comes to growing your digital business and what activities you should cut loose.
It is also important to be spending time learning, from people a few steps a head of you, each day since they are the people who likely know your highest ROI activities.
To find the best knowledge, you can watch Youtube videos from people a few steps ahead of you, read their newsletters, take their courses or join their communities.
In addition, you should regularly review what you have been doing and if it is actually moving your business forward.
So, it is true that you can just work 2-4 hours per day and push your business forward. But, it needs to be a focused 2-4 hours where you are working on your most important tasks.
However, when you’re just starting out, your most valuable asset is the hours that you put into your work. Putting in more hours will allow you to earn more as long as you are focusing on the right tasks and actually staying focused in those working hours.
As your income and leverage increases, you can actually start working less hours and focusing on how to leverage your assets more such as with paid ads, newsletter exchanges and even hiring people.
